Bali visa cost depends entirely on which permit you need. A 30-day Visa on Arrival is IDR 500,000 in official fees. A 60-day C1 tourist visa is IDR 1,000,000, extendable to 180 days for around IDR 4.5 to 6 million all-in with agent fees. A KITAS starts near IDR 8 to 15 million a year depending on type, and the new Second Home Visa runs into the tens of millions of rupiah because it requires a fixed deposit or property purchase. Agent packages typically run 2 to 5 times the official government fee.

Official Bali visa fees, current rates

Every visa cost in Indonesia is set at the national level by immigration tariff regulation, applied the same way at Ngurah Rai airport as anywhere else in the country. There is no separate "Bali price." What changes locally is where you go to extend or convert a visa: for anyone based in south Bali that means Denpasar Immigration Office, with a second desk in Jimbaran handling some categories, and a northern office in Singaraja for Buleleng residents. Badung and Gianyar residents almost always end up at Denpasar or the Ngurah Rai immigration counter for arrivals processing.

These are the state charges under PP No. 45/2024, the immigration tariff regulation. They are what the government actually receives. Everything an agent or law firm adds on top is a service fee, and that is a separate conversation covered further down.

A rise to IDR 750,000 for e-VOA (booked online before travel) or IDR 1,000,000 at the arrival counter was announced by the Director General of Immigration on 12 August 2026. As of this review, no implementing regulation has been issued, no effective date has been set, and the official e-visa portal still charges IDR 500,000. Treat it as coming, not current, and confirm the live rate before you book.

Visa on arrival Bali price

The visa on arrival Bali price is IDR 500,000 for 30 days, payable in cash or card at Ngurah Rai airport, or in advance as an e-VOA through the official portal. It covers tourism, family visits and some business meetings, not paid work. Most Western nationalities, including the UK, US, Australia, Canada, most of the EU, Japan and Korea, use VOA rather than visa-free entry, because they are not on Indonesia's visa-free list.

Visa-free entry exists but is narrow: 13 countries as the baseline (mostly ASEAN, plus Hong Kong, Suriname and Colombia), with Türkiye, Brazil, Peru, Kazakhstan, Macau and Belarus added in July 2026, bringing the list to 19. Visa-free entry is 30 days, cannot be extended, and cannot be converted into another visa type. If your passport is not on that list, VOA is your starting point.

Bali visa fees for a 60 to 180 day stay

If 30 or even 60 days is not enough, the C1 tourist visa is the standard route, and it is where most of the "how much is a Bali visa" confusion sits, because the official fee and the market price diverge fast. The government charges IDR 1,000,000 for the initial 60 days, then IDR 1,000,000 per 60-day extension, up to two extensions, for a maximum stay of 180 days. Add agent or law firm service fees and a realistic all-in budget for the full 180 days is IDR 4.5 to 6 million.

This is the visa we see most often used by people renovating a villa in Canggu, closing on a lease in Pererenan, or spending an extended season in Ubud or Uluwatu before deciding whether to commit to a KITAS. It does not permit employment or running a business, which is a mistake we see constantly with people quietly freelancing from a co-working space in Berawa.

KITAS cost Bali: work, investor, retirement

KITAS cost in Bali varies more than any other visa category, because it depends on sponsor type, not just duration.

Every work KITAS also carries the DPKK skill development fund, USD 100 per month paid up front, so USD 1,200 for a full year. If a quote for a work KITAS looks unusually cheap, this is almost always the line item missing. You also need a MERP re-entry permit if you plan to leave Indonesia at all while holding a KITAS: leave without one and the permit is void the moment you cross the border. Closing a KITAS properly on exit costs around IDR 100,000 in EPO fees and skipping it can block a future application.

Second home visa cost

The second home visa cost is higher than any KITAS category because it is built around a financial threshold rather than a sponsor or job. It is aimed at people who want five or ten years of legal stay without working locally, typically retirees or investors who want to base themselves in Sanur, Nusa Dua or Seminyak long term without running a business in Indonesia.

Eligibility requires proof of funds, usually a fixed bank deposit or property ownership in Indonesia meeting a government-set minimum, and this threshold is reviewed periodically rather than fixed for good. Because the qualifying amount changes and because the application involves both immigration and, often, a property or deposit structure, we do not quote a single number here. Confirm the current minimum deposit or property value directly with an immigration lawyer before assuming you qualify, since applying and being refused wastes time and, in some cases, non-refundable fees.

Bali visa extension cost

Bali visa extension cost depends on what you are extending. A VOA extension is IDR 500,000 for another 30 days, and it can only be done once, no exceptions, no second extension regardless of what an agent tells you. A C1 extension is IDR 1,000,000 per 60-day block, available twice, taking a tourist stay to the 180-day maximum.

Extensions are filed through Denpasar Immigration or, for some categories, the Jimbaran satellite office. Book the appointment before your current permit expires. Waiting until the last few days is the single most common reason people end up overstaying by accident, not by choice.

Official fee vs what agents actually charge

The gap between the state fee and an agent's quote is commonly 2 to 5 times, and that is not automatically a rip-off. Agents and law firms handle sponsorship, document prep and the physical office visits to Denpasar Immigration, which for a first-timer can mean multiple trips. What matters is transparency.

Ask any agent or firm to itemise the PNBP state fee separately from their own service charge. A licensed firm will show you the receipt for the government portion. If they cannot, that is worth walking away from. For a simple VOA extension, a reasonably priced agent is fine. Switch to a licensed law firm once your stay is tangled up with a property purchase, a company, a prior refusal or overstay, or a combination of family, work and investor permits at once, because a wrong visa type discovered at a deed signing in Badung or Gianyar can hold up or kill the transaction entirely. The costliest mistake we see: buying a cheap VOA or C1 extension quote from an unlicensed agent while planning to sign a villa lease, land deal or company incorporation on the same trip. If the visa type does not match what you are actually doing in Indonesia, notaries and the BPN land office in Badung or Gianyar can refuse to proceed, and you find this out at the signing table, not before. Confirm your visa type matches your purpose before you commit to any property or company deed.

Overstay fines and the Bali tourist levy

Overstaying costs IDR 1,000,000 per day, charged from day one, cash only, usually collected at Ngurah Rai on departure. There are no exceptions and no grace period. Two days late already costs more than a VOA extension would have.

Past 60 days it stops being a fine and becomes detention, deportation and a re-entry ban of up to 10 years under UU No. 63/2024, extendable by a further 10. Lifting a blacklist from a long overstay or unpaid fine costs IDR 90,000,000 per application, a figure most people never hear until they are in that situation.

Separately, every foreign visitor pays a one-time Bali tourist levy of IDR 150,000 per entry to the island, cashless only, through the official Love Bali portal. KITAS and KITAP holders are exempt, along with diplomatic, student and family reunification visa holders. There is no cash fine for skipping it, but you can be refused entry at temples and paid attractions without proof of payment. The All Indonesia app is also mandatory and free for immigration, customs and health declarations on arrival: any site charging a "processing fee" for it is running a scam.
